Weather Data from our weather station and the WRF numerical weather model runs is presented here.

A large part of the setup and results has been developed by Mr. E.Kounalakis (Mech.Eng) during work on his Diploma Thesis (2015-16)

Davis Weather Station

Our Energy EnviroMonitor (Energy EM) measures/calculates, displays, and stores heating and cooling degree-days, temperature-humidity index, wind chill, temperature, wind speed, wind direction, solar radiation, solar energy, rainfall, rate of rainfall, barometric pressure, relative humidity and dew-point.

Numerical Weather Prediction with WRF

The Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) Model is a next-generation mesoscale numerical weather prediction system designed for both atmospheric research and operational forecasting needs. It features two dynamical cores, a data assimilation system, and a software architecture facilitating parallel computation and system extensibility. The model serves a wide range of meteorological applications across scales from tens of meters to thousands of kilometers. The effort to develop WRF began in the latter part of the 1990's and was a collaborative partnership principally among the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (represented by the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) and the (then) Forecast Systems Laboratory (FSL)), the Air Force Weather Agency (AFWA), the Naval Research Laboratory, the University of Oklahoma, and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). We are running WRF twice daily on four nested grids at 45 vertical levels: 12x12 km over Greece, 6x6 km over Attiki, 1.5x1.5 km over Athens and 0.5x0.5km over Zografou. Results are shown from the Zografou grid.
